Man Arrested in Winston-Salem Stabbing

A man was arrested late Tuesday night in connection with a stabbing on Monday in Winston-Salem. Officers responded to a stabbing call on New Walkertown Road around 8:30 p.m. Monday night. When officers arrived, they found 29-year-old Johnny Barnes with a stab wound in his chest.He was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for treatment.Kinard Julius Oakes, 45, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury.Oakes' court date is scheduled for Oct. 23. He is being held in the Forsyth County Detention Center under $100,000 bond.Barnes told police the incident happened after an altercation with someone over money.
